Samnaun – Duty Free Shopping in Switzerland

approx. 70 minutes by car

In the 19th century, the remote Swiss Samnaun Valley could only be reached by road from Austria. Thus Samnaun was excluded from the Swiss customs territory, and retains a privileged 'duty-free' status where you can buy cosmetics, cigarettes, alcoholic drinks and gas on a budget. Special Attraction: From early July through early September the St. Anton cable car conveniently whisks you up and down the mountain into Samnaun Valley.

“Zammer Lochputz” – The Mystical Gorge of Tyrol

Water has shaped this mysterious gorge in Zams over several centuries. Nowadays everyone can walk along the water trail past tunnels, paths and bridges and penetrate into the wild beauty of nature. At the entrance visitors can admire Tirol’s first show power station and learn about water myths from all over the world. Then they continue to the 30m-high waterfall. Landeck Castle

Landeck Castle occupies a dramatic position high above the town of the same name, jutting out at the base of a precipitous cliff. Landeck Castle experienced a rich history as a judicial and administrative seat in the 13th century. Silvretta High Alpine Road

The Silvretta Road is rated among the Alps’ most beautiful pass roads and makes for a fantastic scenic day out. It links the Austrian Provinces of Vorarlberg and Tirol and travels across the glorious Silvretta and Verwall Mountains with many lofty peaks reaching up to 3,000 metres above sea level. Departing from St. Anton towards Galtuer, you can discover exciting places along the Silvretta High Alpine Road at your own pace.
 
 
 
 

Merano in South Tyrol (Italy)

Thanks to its sheltered climate that keeps the town mild in winter and cool in summer, Merano is lovingly dubbed "the Gem of South Tyrol".
